Career Transition For Dancers – Helping Dancers Find Their Passion & Develop Post-Performance Careers

Social Capitale - Career Transition for Dancers, Inc.Whether or not you became the prima bellerina assoluta or premier dansuer noble, at some time one will most likely face the inevitability of moving on to pursue other rewarding journeys outside of the dancing field.  Want to pursue the career of a lawyer?  Want to save the lives of others as a doctor?  Looking for some other meaningful career?  Let them assist.  Never forget that if you don’t “A – S –  K” you will never “G – E – T.”  As of this writing, Career Transition For Dancers, Inc. remains the only nonprofit organization in the US solely dedicated to the career needs of dancers.  With primary offices in New York and Los Angeles and a mobile National Outreach effort, Career Transition For Dancers helps thousands of dancers take their first steps in discovering rewarding second careers.

Sometimes it helps to work with those who have been there, done that and understand your unique needs, concerns and hopes.

Primary Career Transition Channels for Dancers

There are three major offerings – Career Counseling, National & Local Outreach Projects as well as Scholarships and Grants.

Career Counseling – Through its Individual Counseling, Career Line, Career Conversations and Focus & Support Group initiatives, the intent is to help you the dancer promote “self evaluation and discovery that leads to future success.  Counseling also encourages dancers to celebrate their achievements, an important part of the transition process that’s at the very hear of [Career Transition For Dancers’ mission.”

National & Local Outreach Projects – There are several events that take place in New York City and Los Angeles, home of the two office locations.  Events include social media education, pursuing a teaching career, and completing your degree to name a few.  For those who are not in this area, you are encouraged to contact them.

Scholarships and Grants – There are two types of funding programs – 1) Retraining or new business startup  grants in the amount of $2,000 each awarded to qualified dancers such as the The Caroline N. Newhouse Scholarship Fund and 2) Graduate Degree grants in the amount of $5,000 offered via the Sono Osata Scholarship Program of Graduate Studies for those pursuing graduate study degrees outside of the realm of dancing in fields such as law, medicine, social work, business, humanities, etc.
